.uk Domain Availability Checker

Domain Availability Checker – End of life

The .uk Domain Availability Checker is now end of life and is not accepting any new registrars, it will be phased out over the next year.

Registrars looking to check domain availability should utilise EPP domain:check command.

The Domain Availability Checker (DAC) service allows high volumes of queries regarding the availability of domain names that we manage.

The DAC service is optimised for speed and as such provides a limited amount of data.  The service runs on secondary copies of the register that are updated by an immediate replication process.
The DAC service is mainly used in the following scenarios:

  • To check the availability of specific domain names for potential registrants.
  • To check the availability of a number of similar domain names to offer alternatives or additions to potential registrants.
  • To check whether expiring domain names have become available for registration.

Eligibility

Subscription to the DAC service is restricted to our registrars who are also Nominet members.  An existing subscription will be terminated automatically if your membership or registrar service ends for any reason.

How to apply

Eligible registrars can find the DAC application form under the Apply for Services tab of our online service.

You will also be required to confirm that you accept the Terms and Conditions of the DAC contract.

How to cancel

To unsubscribe from the DAC service, please inform us by sending either a secure message from your online service account or PGP signed email to support@nominet.org.uk.

Fees

The DAC service is charged at £25 + VAT per year.
